Japan (postwar) refers to the constitutional parliamentary monarchy established in Japan following the Allied occupation that began in 1945, operating under the Constitution of Japan enacted in 1947. It has existed in the Japanese archipelago from 1952, when the San Francisco Peace Treaty restored Japanese sovereignty, to the present day.
