Adolf Hitler was the head of state and government of Germany, holding the combined office of Führer und Reichskanzler from 1934 until his death in 1945. He rose through the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP), becoming its leader in 1921 and Chancellor of Germany in January 1933, before consolidating executive authority following the death of President Hindenburg in 1934.
