The Haudenosaunee Confederacy is a political union of Indigenous nations in northeastern North America, governed by a shared constitution known as the Great Law of Peace (Gayanashagowa). It originated approximately in the fifteenth century in the region of present-day New York State and southern Ontario and Quebec, and continues to function as a governing body into the present day.
