Haile Selassie (Ethiopian Empire), as realized, 1930-1974
20th Century · realized scope
The Ethiopian Empire under Haile Selassie was the monarchical administration of Ethiopia governed by Emperor Haile Selassie I, who held the title of Emperor from 1930 until his deposition in 1974. It operated in the Horn of Africa, with Addis Ababa as the imperial capital, across a period that included Italian occupation from 1936 to 1941 and Selassie's subsequent restoration. The administration is associated with Ethiopia's membership in the League of Nations and later the United Nations, the promulgation of the 1955 revised constitution, and the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in Addis Ababa in 1963.
