Islamic State (ISIS), as realized, 2014-2019
Contemporary · realized scope
The Islamic State is a non-state armed organization that proclaimed itself a caliphate governed under its interpretation of Islamic law. It operated primarily across territory in Iraq and Syria from 2013 onward, with additional affiliates and claimed provinces across parts of Africa, Asia, and elsewhere. It is principally associated with the administration of territory under its declared caliphate structure, including the establishment of courts, taxation systems, and civil governance institutions in areas under its control.
Cluster:Mobilized Absolutism
Knowledge & Truth and Care & Welfare show the deepest depressions in the collection, with the procedural Principles low beside them, while Authority & Hierarchy carries the single strongest elevation anywhere in it, joined by Assigned Groups, Security & Stability, and Community & Solidarity. Both sides of the pattern run to their extremes. That depth on both sides is what separates it from Extractive Rule.
